Being in tune with oneself, both physically and psychologically, is very legitimate at a time when everything is going faster and faster, when the body is subjected to permanent nuisances (noise, pollution, etc.) and when the mind has to cope with regular tensions.

To stay healthy, knowing how to recognize and accept one's needs is nevertheless essential: the body must rest when it is tired, eat when it is hungry, drink when it is thirsty.

In the same way, the mind must breathe when it reaches saturation, relax after hours of concentration and empty itself when problems follow one another.

In this respect, a return to the fundamentals of health and a certain amount of common sense appear to be the means to achieve serenity and well-being. In order for our organisms to regain their balance, all natural methods are updated. Aromatherapy is one of them.

What is aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is a remedy dating back to ancient times. Indeed, the Egyptians already included in their healing potions plants such as mint or laurel. It was only later, in the 11th century, that the idea of extracting the active ingredients of plants by distillation appeared.

Aromatherapy is a branch of phytotherapy (phyto = plants and therapy = cure). It consists in collecting the active principles of plants by a complex process of steam distillation to recover the liquid and concentrated form that we know and called "essential oil". It is not a "fat" strictly speaking but an infinity of active molecules.

Each essential oil has a particular chemical composition called "chemotype". It is defined according to the environment of the plant, the soil, the exposure to the sun, the temperature, its resistance to bad weather, etc.

The same plant species can therefore produce different essential oils and therefore have several "chemotypes".

We can use essential oils in several ways.

1) Orally:

They are used in case of digestive and / or infectious disorders etc.. (ENT, angina, bronchitis ...). Beware of interactions with other drugs, always seek the advice of a health professional and consult the product data sheet.

2) Dermal :

Essential oils penetrate very well into the skin and act deeply in the body. This use is particularly recommended in case of skin diseases or for cosmetic use: to improve the condition of hair, nails, skin...

3) By diffusion or inhalation:

Essential oils can be breathed into the inhaler at a rate of 2 to 3 drops for the equivalent of a bowl of water. They can also be distributed throughout the house with an essential oil diffuser. This allows to purify the air, to clean, to kill microbes or simply to create a pleasant olfactory atmosphere.

Be careful, essential oils, because of their high active concentration, must be handled with care.

Essential oils are not recommended for (consult technical data sheets before use):

  • pregnant or nursing women;
  • children under 7 years old;
  • people suffering from epilepsy;
  • By mouth in people with gastric problems (ulcer, esophageal reflux, etc.)

Some additional precautions

  • wash your hands carefully after use;
  • do not diffuse continuously;
  • do not use pure, always dilute with oil.
